Discover the Unified Endoscopic Scoring System for Patients with CRSwNP
Learn the highlights of an endoscopic scoring of nasal polyposis with Professor Philippe Gevaert from Ghent University Hospital and Professor Sanna Toppila-Salmi from Helsinki University Hospital, on how a unified nasal polyp scoring system was developed and has become revolutionary for doctors and patients.
Chronic Rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is an inflammatory disease of the nasal and paranasal sinus mucosa and affects around 4% of the population, which can cause a wide range of symptoms. The new endoscopic scoring system of nasal polyps has proven to be a much better measurement. However, the existence and use of different scoring systems can complicate the comparison of clinical trial results. The standardized scoring system helps physicians to assess disease severity treatment plan and the patient to learn what is his/her disease severity or treatment opinions would there be and its outcome. It can also be helpful in clinical research to compare the outcomes of different treatments.
