Latest Recovery Trial on COVID-19
Nearly 40 million people have now been diagnosed with the COVID-19 disease leading to over a million deaths worldwide. The search for a vaccine however continues apace but whilst that remains a pipe dream, treatments have improved dramatically as have patient outcomes. At Oxford University, in the UK, the world’s biggest trial of potential therapies (called Recovery Trial) is being carried out, which stands for randomized evaluation of COVID-19 therapy.
Professor Richard Haynes, Professor of Medicine, Coordinator of Recovery Trial at Oxford University, explains that over 14,000 patients in many hospital sites have been recruited for this specific trial. Patients who have proven or suspected with COVID-19 and been admitted to a hospital were eligible for this trial.
