What is the future of allergic rhinitis treatment?
ARIA Masterclass Brussels 2018
Experts believe that the future of Allergic Rhinitis/AR will be mainly to identify the different genotypes and endotypes and to treat them accordingly. The future of AR can also be directed to a combination therapy particularly intra-nasal combination therapy with nasal corticoids steroids and a nasal antihistamine, which has proven to be significantly better than either alone. For patients that do not control these therapies, allergen immunotherapy might be a way forward. It can be important to have trials looking at earlier allergen immunotherapy to see if they can prevent disease progression, especially preventing progression of asthma.
These interviews with Prof. Dr Joaquim Mullol (Spain) and Prof. Glenis Scadding (UK), were recorded during the ARIA masterclass on 12 September 2018 in Brussels, Belgium.
